What the Otterbay silo keeps

Revised 2 November 2026

The short version of how we treat your data

Otterbayplay is built to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comment boxes, no analytics tools and no advertising trackers anywhere on the site. You can read every review and guide without telling us anything about yourself.

This page explains the few small things that do happen when you visit, and what you can do about each of them.

Your feed bucket and the notice choice

When you tap a heart to save a game, the site stores that shortlist in your own browser using localStorage. The same applies to your answer on the small notice that appears on your first visit. Both stay on your device and are never sent to us or to anyone else.

You can remove them at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for otterbayplay.com. Doing so empties your shortlist and brings back the notice on your next visit.

Fonts delivered by Google

To display our typefaces, pages load font files from Google Fonts, a service run by Google. When your browser requests those files, Google receives your IP address and basic browser details, which it needs in order to deliver the fonts to you.

Google handles that information under its own privacy policy. We do not receive it, and we never combine it with anything else.

Leaving us for a game’s official site

Play buttons open each game’s official site in a new tab. Once you are there, the publisher’s own privacy policy applies to anything it collects, including any account you create or details you enter. We encourage you to read it before signing up for a game.

Letters that reach the farmhouse

If you email [email protected], we receive your address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to read and reply to you.

We keep correspondence only as long as needed to answer and follow up, and we never add you to a mailing list or pass your message on to anyone.

PIPEDA rights for every Otterbayplay reader

We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You may ask what we hold about you, which in practice means only emails you have sent us, and ask us to correct or delete it.

If you are unhappy with how we have dealt with a privacy request, you can raise a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Younger readers on the site

Families often read about these games together, and that is welcome. Because we collect no personal information through the site itself, there is nothing for a younger reader to submit here. We ask that children write to the editors with a parent’s knowledge.

Changes and how to reach us

If our practices change, we will update this page and its revision date before the change takes effect. Questions about privacy can be sent to [email protected], and an editor will reply personally.
